spelling of Teutonic Adelheidis
(q.v.), meaning "a noble person," from adel
"noble" and heidis "condition." (Praenomina,
Charnock, 1882).
1) So schreibt
er statt "a genitore nostro" der Vorurkunde (MG. DD. II. 802 X.
24) "a tertius Otto" (!), statt "dono memoratae avie
nostrae" (ibid. Z. 26) "dono bone memoriae domne Adadheleide
impratrice" (!), wozu zu bemerken ist, dass in der Vorurkunde (Z. 20
f.) die Form Adalheidis vorkommt und der zweite Strich des zweiten a so an
1 geführt ist, dass ein flüchtig darauf geworfener Blick zuerst d lesen
