Etymology of the
Meaning of the baby name AMALASWINTH.
Gothic-Lombardic name, composed of the elements amala
"labor, work" and swinth "strength," hence "work
strength," or "dignity of labor."
which would bear the translation, dignity of labour, though probably it
was only given in the sense of dignity of the Amaler, was the
unfortunate Lombardic queen,
whom the Romans could not protect from the treachery of her favourites.
She is called Amalasontha
