Origin of the name ANNYS.
Etymology of the name ANNYS.
Meaning of the baby name ANNYS.

ANNYS.   A name used in England from the Norman Conquest down at least to 1690.  Mr. Bardsley thinks that this was really Agnes ("chaste, sacred, pure"), and it is certain that Agnes and Annis were used indifferently in Scotland.  See also Anisia. (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884; A Dictionary of English and Welsh Surnames, Bardsley, 1901).
