ARDITH.  A difficult name to trace.  It has two entries in Kenyon's Character Naming Sourcebook (1994):  Anglo-Saxon ("good war"); and Teutonic ("wealthy gift").

    Bessie—(Who sees party arriving)  Hooray!  Here they come.  Now for a jolly time, girls.
    Elaine—Oh!  We're so glad to see you.
    Ardith—Now girls make yourselves happy for health is happiness. (Young Woman's Journal, v.32, 1921).
