AA.  An Egyptian adjective, meaning "old" or "great," commonly used in the proper names of the Ancient and Middle empires, or from the IVth to the XVIIIth dynasties.
    Aa, the name of an Egyptian deity, worshipped in the town of Aat, meaning "old men."  Aa, one of the demons who accuse the soul of the deceased in the Hall of the two Truths.  Aat is the feminine form but is used only in place names.  Aau is a variant form. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
