AB  [Heb. Abh = "father"].  In composition "Father," as Abraham = "father of a multitude"; Abner = "father of light."  It is generally used in the construct state Abi, as Abimelech = "father of a king," Abishag = "father of error." (The Sunday School Teacher's Bible Manual, Hunter, 1894)

AB.  Egyptian name meaning "the pure."  The lowest sacerdotal order in the Egyptian priesthood.  It is the name of an early Egyptian monarch of the VIth dynasty, whose place in the lists is not known.  And it is the title of Amen Ra in his attribute of Amen the generator.  Khem and Horus were also called generators, and were represented ithyphallically. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876)
