ABD-UL-LATIF (عبد اللطيف).  Also written Abdul-Latif and Abdallatif.  Arabic name meaning "servant of the genteel," from Abdul "servant of the" and Latif "genteel" or "gracious." 

... A prolific Arabian writer, physician, and traveler.  He was born at Bagdad, and died while on the pilgrimage to Mecca.... Of the works of Abd-ul-Latif only one, The Account of Egypt, is generally known.  This was translated into Latin by White (1800) and into French by De Sacey (1810).
