ACU.  The Chaldean name of the moon, when spoken of astronomically.  It is the name of the Accadian Moon-god, also spelled Agu (q.v.).  It appears in compound names, such as Eriacu "servant of Acu." (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).  The name means "the seated father."  See Aku.
