ARAMU.  Of Assyrian origin.  A king of Ararat (Urartu), who ruled 858-844 BC, and whose name is said to go back to about 1700 BC, and who some suspect may be the prototype of the Armenian patriarch Aram (q.v.). (Proceedings of the Society of Biblical Archaeology, v.4, 1879).
