ASSHURABAMER. According
to Lenormant, whose view is not now maintained, the last king of the first
empire of the Assyrians. He was defeated by the king of the
Hittites, and lost the whole of the external provinces of Assyria.
The discontent excited among his subjects at this disaster led to a
conspiracy, by which he was dethroned, and the principal traitor,
Belkatirassur, placed on the throne.
