ASSOROS.  In Greco-Babylonian mythology the brother and husband of Kissare (q.v.), and father of the first divine triad, Anos, Illinos, and Aos.  His analogue was the Assur of the Assyrians with his wife Seruya. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).

"And then again a third (progeny) from these [i.e., from Apason and Tauthe], Kissare and Assoros.  In Kissare Movers and Bunsen with great probability see Khusarti-Harmonia, and Assoros appears to be identical with Assur, supreme head of the Assyrian Pantheon...
