ASSURLIKKISH.  A king of Assyria, under whom, according to some Assyriologists, the original empire was overthrown by the Medes.  The point is open to considerable doubt, and the monarch in that case would have been Assur Nirari II., which see.  All Assyriologists agree in making Tuklat Palesir II. his successor.  N.B.—This name is retained for reference although the view is now abandoned by Assyriologists.
