Origin of the name AMAL.
Etymology of the name AMAL.
Meaning of the baby name AMAL.

AMAL (امل).  Unisex. Arabic name, derived from the vocabulary word amal, meaning "hope." (An English and Arabic Dictionary, Catafago, 1873)

AMAL (עָמָל).  Unisex.  Strictly masculine in the Bible.  [Hebrew = "heavy labour," "sorrow"].  An Asherite, a son of Helem (1 Chron. vii. 35). (The Sunday School Teacher's Bible Manual, Hunter, 1894)

AMAL.  m. Teutonic masculine name, of Teutonic origin, from amal, meaning "labor, work."

Amal is a very remarkable word.  We have had it in Greek, as Αὶμύλος; in Latin, as Æmilius; in the Keltic as Amalgaidh; and in all it would seem as if one notion could be detected—that of work.  Even in Hebrew Amal means to work; aml is work in old Norse; and we have still our verb to moil, taken therefrom. (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884)
