BAI.  A great chancellor of Egypt in the court of Merenpthah I.  By his influence after that monarch's death, the usurper Sipthah and the princess Tauser were acknowledged as joint sovereigns over the land of Egypt at the city of Chev, and the legitimate heir of the crown, Prince Seti, afterwards Seti II., was made to acquiesce in their accession.  Bai, a priest of Apis, in the reign of Tirhakah, of the XXVth dynasty.  Bai, a keeper of the bulls of Amen Ra.  The period when he lived is unknown.
