| BARUIR. A
king of Armenia who combined with the Medes and Persians to destroy
Nineveh. In this he was successful, and then uniting all the petty
Armenian kingdoms under one government, he became their sovereign on the
fall of the Assyrian empire. Baruir reigned more than forty
years, towards the last of which his kingdom was ravaged by Tiglath
Pileser II. He was succeeded by his son Urtsa.
