BELKATIRASSU.  "Bel has strengthened my hand."  The superintendent of the royal gardens of the kings of Assyria.  In the decline of the Assyrian power he raised a conspiracy, and dethroned his master, thus becoming himself king of Assyria.  He thus founded a new line of kings, and was the Belitarus of the Greeks. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
