BENZEL.  A Swiss form of Benedict, meaning "blessed."  Also spelled Benzli. (Yonge) 

Benzel, [Lat. Benzelius] (Eric) born about 1632, was made, in 1700, Archbishop of Upsal by Charles XII.  He superintended the Swedish translation of the Bible published by order of Charles XII., and wrote several religious works.  Died in 1709. (Thomas)
