Origin of the name BLAISE.
Etymology of the name BLAISE.
Meaning of the baby name BLAISE.

BLAISE.  Arthurian.  French form of Roman Latin Blasius (q.v.), meaning "babbles."  This was the name of a Saint who loved all animals and whom the animals loved in return. (The Book of Saints and Friendly Beasts, Brown, 1900).

... According to the legend of Merlin, Blaise was a hermit who had protected Merlin's mother from the fiend, and had undertaken his education.  Merlin is afterwards supposed to have made Blaise his chronicler and father-confessor, reporting his feats of enchantment and the events in general of the time for purposes of record by Blaise... (The Arthurian Tales, Malory-Rhys, 1907)
