(q.v.), meaning "Christian; a follower of Christ."
This was the name of at least ten kings of Denmark. (History of
Christian Names, Yonge, 1884)
Christian (or Christiern) V., King of Denmark and Norway, born in 1646,
was the son of Frederick III., whom he succeeded in 1670. He died
in 1699, of a wound received in hunting, and was succeeded by his son,
Frederick IV.
Christian (or Christiern) X., King of Denmark,
born in 1870; succeeded his father, Frederick VIII., May 14, 1912. (Universal
