Bach, (Johann Christoph,)
born at Arnstadt, in Thuringia, in 1643, enjoyed the highest reputation
as an organist, composer, and contrapuntist. His works are
numerous, including ecclesiastical ad secular music. He died in
1703, leaving two sons, Johann Nicholas and Johann Christoph, who
were distinguished musicians. (Thomas)
Glaser, (Christoph,) a
Swiss chemist, born at Bale, was apothecary to Louis XIV, of
France. He published a "Treatise on Chemistry," (1663,)
