CONALL. Old
Irish name that has been variously rendered "chief courage," "friendship"
and "mighty
warrior." See Congal,
Connal and Connel.

Conall mac Taidg (d. 807), was a king in Scotland. (Wiki)
Conall
means friendship; or it may be derived from "Con," the
genitive of "Cu," a hound (signifying a swift-footed
warrior), and "all," great or mighty. (Irish
Pedigrees; or, The Origin and Stem of the Irish Nation, O'Hart,
1892).
Conall is
cognate with Cymric Cynwal, from Kuno-valo-s "high (and) mighty
one." A stone near Penzance, Cornwall, has the form CVNOVALI.
In Conall we have "another personification of the sun;... For his
achievements see Hull's "Cuchulainn Saga," sub index; and Hyde;
and Cóir Anmann in "Ir. Texte," iii. p. 395. (Fled Bricrend:
the Feast of Bricriu, Henderson, 1899).
