Origin of the name CUNOBELINE.
Etymology of the name CUNOBELINE.
Meaning of the baby name CUNOBELINE.

CUNOBELINE.  Celtic name meaning "lord of Belinus," or "war-lord." (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884)

... It was an extremely common thing among the Celts to take the names of their divinities,a custom which, we find from Sir Henry Rawlinson, was superabundant among the ancient Assyrians, and even prevailed in the second and third centuries at Rome...
... The title, cvno/cuno, first appears connected with the name of Cunobeline, and became disused in about five centuries, the last instance of it being in the name Cvneglas, in the History of Gildas, c. 32... Composites of cyn, signify "head" or "chief," and it is in this way that we have the corrupted form of Cymbeline, for Cunobeline, which prevailed in the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth centuries. (Celtic Inscriptions on Gaulish & British Coins, Poste, 1861)
