DAGONET. Arthurian.
King Arthur's fool (court jester). Also spelled Daguenet
(q.v.). But are they both the same? If Dagonet is an
original form, and not a corruption of Daguenet, or some other
name, perhaps it is from biblical Dagon
(q.v.), meaning "great fish." If it is a corruption of Daguenet,
it may mean "dagger."
Dagonet, pen-name of G. R.
Sims;—(Sir), King
Arthur's fool; not Daguenet.
(Author & Printer,
Collins, 1905).
Dagonet, Sir. The
attendant fool of King Arthur. [Written also Daguenet.]
I
was then Sir Dagonet in Arthur's show.—Shakespeare.
