name, derived from the verb
δαμάω
(tame), hence "taming."
... No church was thought
thoroughly consecrated save by the bones of some sainted Christian, and
it was during the first fervour that led men to seek the bodies of the
martyrs in their hiding-places, that St. Ambrose discovered the bodies
of two persons at Milan, whom a dream pronounced to be Kosmos
and
