DMITRI (Дми́трий).  Russian form of Greek Demetrios, meaning "sprung from the earth" or "from Ceres." 

Anitchkov, or Anitchkof, (Dmitri S.,) a Russian philosopher and mathematician, born in or before 1740.  He published several works, one of which was publicly burnt because a friend to whom he had lent it added some heretical or skeptical opinions.  Died in 1788. (Thomas)
