    ENID = spotless purity, was, as a name, first borne by one of the heroines of King Arthur's court.  Enid was the personification of all that is noble and true in womanhood, and conspicuous also for her resplendent beauty and noble bearing.  The bard of the Middle Ages could pay no higher compliment to his Mistress than to call her a "second Enid."—And there was no maiden more esteemed than she in the Island of Britain. The brave Geraint, a knight of Arthur's court,
