ETHELINDA.  A Latinized form of Anglo-Saxon Æthelind (q.v.), meaning "noble snake," from Old English el "noble" and lind "serpent, snake."  Some authors render it "noble maiden."  Also see Charnock's note under Ethelind.  And see Ethelinde.
