EA.  Assyrian-Babylonian deity, meaning "house of water." (Athenaeum, Jan-Jun, 1887).  In the Assyrian pantheon, this is the third member of the Nature Triad, and one of the most important gods.  He was called "lord of the sea, of rivers and fountains;" lord of wisdom and knowledge. (Encyclopedia Britannica, Chambers, v.1, 1901).  Also spelled Hea.
