(q.v.), meaning "nobly
bold." (The Teutonic Name-System &c., Ferguson, 1864).

or for counsel. Among these was the outcast Ethelbald, to
whom Guthlac predicted that he should soon without strife possess the
Mercian throne, a prophecy which was shortly fulfilled when his cousin
and enemy was stricken with madness, while sitting at the banquet with
