Farid Bukhari (Shaikh),
commander of the Agra city guards when Akbar died. Great honours were
conferred on him by the emperor Jahangir, on account of his
services. He received the title of Murtaza Khan, and managed the
affairs of the empire till he was rendered unfit for business by a
stroke of the palsy, which opened the way for the promotion of
Ya'timad-uddaula, the father of the empress Nur Jahan. He died A.D.
