Philip [Fr. Philippe; Sp. Felipe] V., King of Spain, born at Versailles in December, 1683, was a grandson of Louis XIV., and the second son of Louis, Dauphin of France. He died in July, 1746, and was succeeded by his son Ferdinand VI. (Universal Pronouncing Dictionary of Biography & Mythology, Thomas, v.2, 1915).
