GUYON.  French.  A diminutive form of Guy (q.v.).  It is the same as Celtic Gwion (Welsh Gwiawn), possibly meaning "anger."  Spenser used this name for the hero of the second "Book of Courtesie" in his Faerie Queen.  Also see Guidon. (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884).
