HOSANNA (Ωσαννά). [N.T.
Greek from Hebrew Hoshiah na = "save, we pray"].
Also
variously rendered "save
now," succour now," "be now propitious." See Hosannah.
Hosanna Noelle-Leilani Kabakoro, an American beauty
pageant titleholder. (Wiki)
A short
prayer to Jehovah for deliverance, taken from Psalm cxviii. 25. It
was adopted by "the whole multitude of the disciples" during
the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and was evidently designed
to identify Him with the conqueror whose return from a desperate contest
was described in the Psalm from which the quotation was made (cf. Matt.
xxi. 9, 15; Mark xi. 9, 10; Luke xix. 38 with Psalm cxviii. 25). (The
Sunday School Teacher's Bible Manual, Hunter, 1895).
