HARALDR. Old
Norse name, meaning "army wielder," "warrior power," "host-wielder."
See Harald.
Haraldr (her-valdr),
"Host-wielder," was a common Scandinavian name, which became
Harold in English. There were several kings in Man so
called. It seems to have been applied to the mill and treen
now called Horalett, but formerly Horaldre, which is probably part only
of the original name. (Manx Names; or, The Surnames and Place-names
of the Isle of Man, Moore, 1906).
