Origin of the name HEIDRICK.
Etymology of the name HEIDRICK.
Meaning of the baby name HEIDRICK.

HEIDRICK.  Old Dutch name possibly meaning "cheerful king," or "one who has kingly qualities."  The second element is surely rick (G. reich, O.H.G. rihhi) "king, ruler; kingdom, realm."  Webster has heid, a word denoting state or fixedness, hence "character, quality." (An American Dictionary of the English Language, Webster, 1857).  Yonge renders both O.H.G. heit and Dutch heid "cheerful," from the root of the present German heiter.  She also states that the general fusion of European names brought in Hendrik which supplanted this native name. (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884).
