HIMYAR.  "The Red."  The son of Abdshems, king of Yemen.  He founded the Himyarite dynasty, which gradually changed the name of the people of the country from Sabaeans to Himyarites.  The true name of Himyar was Ghaza-hadj. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
