IMOUTHES (Іμουτής).  Greek form of Egyptian Imhotep (q.v.), meaning "I bring the offering." (Medical Symbolism in Connection with Historical Studies in the Arts of Healing and Hygiene, Sozinskey, 1891).  Imouthes, the Egyptian god of medicine and surgery, supposed to have been King Tseshortsa (Tosorthros) under a deified name, or perhaps the god Imhotep. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
