Irvine, who directed my attention to this very curious paper, has also
supplied the following note from the records of Justiciary. At the
Spring Circuit, Aberdeen, in 1844, John Geddes, alias "Jock
Jack," was indicted for assaulting John Cowie, "Pum."
The locus delicti was near the villages of Port-Gordon and Buckie,
