KADIR (قادر).  Arabic name, derived from the vocabulary word kadir, meaning "able, capable, potent, powerful." (An English and Arabic Dictionary, Catafago, 1873).  Kadir was the poetical name of Shaikh 'Abdul Kadir, who was employed as Munshi by Prince Muhammad Akbar, son of 'Alamgir.  He is the author of a Diwan. (A Oriental Biographical Dictionary, Beale, 1881)
