KAMES. Egyptian
name meaning "child of the bull" or "child of khem." (Presbyterian
Review, Briggs, v.4, 1883)
... Sekenen-ra Taa-ken very
probably had for his wife the Queen Ansera; their son was Kames,
who is supposed to have married the heiress-Princess Aahhotep I.
(Egypt of the Past, Wilson, 1893)
KAMES, a Theban monarch of the
XVIIth dynasty, the son of Tiakken. He carried on the war begun by
his father against Apepi, the Hykshos king, and his son Aahmes
terminated the struggle by expelling the Hykshos dynasty. He was
called Tsafento, "Sustainer of the World," a title which has
been compared with the Zaphnath-Paaneah of Hebrew history. His
reign was a short one. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
