KHONS.  The great deity of Thebes who was specially worshipped by Rameses XII.  He was represented as a mummy figure standing upright, wearing the plumes of Amen, and holding the sceptre, scourge, and emblems of life and strength.  He must be distinguished from the eponymous Pthah of Memphis, who was represented as a deformed hydrocephalous dwarf. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
