| LAILE. The
king of Yedih, in Arabia. On the invasion of Arabia by Esarhaddon he
fled from the country, and the statues of the local gods were carried to
Nineveh by the Assyrians. After the departure of Esarhaddon, Laile
sent an embassy with presents and his submission to the king, imploring
the return of his deities. These Esarhaddon accepted, and restoring
the statues, made the king of Yedih king also of the land of Bazu. (An Archaic Dictionary, Cooper, 1876).
