Lenz, (Jakob Michael
Reinhold,) a German poet and intimate friend of Goethe, born in Livonia
in 1750. He became insane in consequence of an unrequited passion
for Frederica Brion, who has been celebrated by Goethe. He wrote
several comedies. Died in 1792. (Universal Pronouncing
