LEVON.  Armenian form of Latin Leon (q.v.), meaning "a lion." (Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bombay, v.15, 1883)

    Levon VI, was the last king of the Armenians. He was taken captive by the Arabs in 1375, was ultimately released, and took refuge in France, where he died in 1393, and was buried in the Chapel of St. Denis. (Story of Turkey and Armenia, Pierce, 1896)
