| LOKMAN. In
Arabian history the founder of the second great Adite nation. He
reigned over the few who believed in the prophet Hud, and is said to have
governed for a thousand years. He built a great dyke to restrain the
mountain torrents by which the former Adites had been swept away, and
there founded the city of Marib. The remains of the dyke and city
still exist. He was surnamed Dhu-anuscour, and was succeeded by his
son Lukagm. See Lukagm
