An Armenian form of Margaret
(q.v.), from Greek Margarites
(q.v.), meaning "pearl."
... According to another report
no one was spared in Moush, not even the orphans in the German
Orphanage. Some of these were killed and others deported. The Rev.
Krikor and Mr. Marcar Ghougasian, teachers in the German Orphanage, were
killed, and only two escaped death, Miss Margarid Nalbandian and
Miss Maritza Arisakesian. These were graduates of the German Seminary at
Mezre, and owe their lives to a kind German lady. (The Treatment of
