MELVAS.  Arthurian.  King of Glass Island, or Glastonbury. (The Voyage of Bran, Meyer, 1895).  It is a variant spelling of Celtic Melva (q.v.), meaning "chief." (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884).  Also spelled Melwas.  And see Maheloas.
