MÓEDÓG.  Not the same as Irish Maodhóg (q.v.) which later supplanted it, but from M'Óedóg, namely Ma Otdóg, meaning "my little Aodh."  It was a pet name belonging to the Irish saint Aeddan... This strange custom of prefixing the possessive pronoun, first person singular, to the proper name of a saint was very general... (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884)
