NANA.  A Babylonian deity.  The name means "the lady."  Nana was the principal goddess of the city of Uruk.  She was the planet Venus (q.v.), the daughter of Sin (q.v.), the moon-god.  As the descendant of Anu (q.v.), she was called also Anunit.  Shalmaneser II. calls her the consort of Nabu (q.v.).
