NANNELI.  A diminutive form of Swiss Nann (q.v.), meaning "compassion, grace."  The Scandinavians have Anneli. (History of Christian Names, Yonge, 1884).
    Nann, sometimes called Nanneli, is the name of one of the main characters in Ant Henne's novel, Die Rache in Gonten (1867), set in Appenzeller, Switzerland.
